Unless you visit the Spiti valley, it is hard to describe its beauty in just few lines. A sudden transformation happens from a lush around to arid cold terrains once you come from Kullu to Spiti district. In this Spiti tour from Delhi, as your car enters Spiti via Kunzum pass, you will be stunned to see the difference.
From Manali, you will be passing two passes, Rohtang pass and Kunzum Pass, to enter into Spiti Valley. The meandering alpine roads of the valley will lead you the district headquarter of Sipti and Lahaul, which is Kaza town. In the town you can see multicolored fluttering flags passed through a single string at various locations.
There are many gompas in and near the town. Among all Key Monastery is the most prominent one to visit. It is a residence of hundreds of monks who come here to learn and practice Buddhism. Langza, Chicham Bridge, Hikkim, Kibber and Chandratal Lake are other places you shall be visiting during local sightseeing of Kaza.
Another splendor in this trip is Pin Valley national park. This out of the box national park is 40 km from Kaza has many species of plants that are rare to find and acquires medicinal properties. Plus, there are many species of wild animals like Siberian fox, snow leopards, et al could be seen in the park.
Dhankar Monastery is located in the village having the same name as the monastery in Spiti valley. This 1000 feet high structure is precariously constructed on an offshoot of a mountain. It faces the mesmerizing merger of Spiti River and Pin River.
One place that you will be visiting while going to the lake is Losar village. After you have visited Chandratal Lake, the driver will take you back to Manali. Again you will be passing Kunzum la and Rohtang La.
Stay in Manali before you head to Delhi at night. Reaching Delhi ends the Spiti tour from Delhi.
