Evening tea at an alfresco café in any of the village sets a happy mood as you shall be surrounded by alluring beauty of nature.

Kalpa, near bank of River Sutlej becomes heavenly when snow falls from the cloud onto the village land. If you go to the village in the month of February, then you can participate in Holi festival, which is celebrated with great fervor by the people in the village.

Kibber was once the highest located village in Asia. But the accolade got passed to Komik village. Both villages are in Spiti valley near Kaza.

Hundreds of monks reside in the most pious Tibetan monastery, Key monastery. This Tibetan sanctum is located at staggering altitude 4200 meters above sea level, close to Spiti River.

Chandratal Lake is a gem in Spiti Valley. Surrounded by arid mountains covered in snow, this lake dazzles its blue water. During winters, it freezes, which might not be ideal for everyone to visit here. But, a few enthusiasts find ecstasy even in the harshness of climate.

Itinerary

Day1 Chandigarh to Narkanda drive(192 Kms,8-9 HRS)

  • Welcome to this Kinnaur-Spiti tour. Drive will wait for you outside airport/railway station.
  • Drive to Narkanda will be 192 km long. And it will take approximately 9 hours.
  • Have few breaks on the way to have some food and get relaxation from a seated position by stretching your legs.
  • Fagu, Theog and Matiana are some villages that we will cross by.
  • Your booked room in Narkanda will be ready for you. Just check in to rest for the night.

Day2 Narkanda to Sangla(161 Kms,7-8 HRS)

  • Breakfast is 1st meal of the day. So, have it a king size.
  • After you check out in morning, driver will take you to Hattu Peak where you can have darshan at Hattu temple.
  • You will be seeing how Baspa River comes out its mother Sutlej on the way.
  • If you like a fish, then in lunch a trout curry with chapatti would stimulate your taste buds.
  • In evening, you will reach Sangla. Feel free to stroll around in the village after dropping your luggage at your stay.

Day3 Sangla and Chitkul exploration

  • It would be nice if you get up early to explore Sangla and nearby places.
  • Kamru Fort in kamru village is a fort converted into a temple.
  • Have lunch at India’s last village, Chitkul. Try local dhabas in the village.
  • Walk to Batseri village to buy a kinnauri cap and shawl.
  • An evening tea in village while having pristine view of sun setting behind the mountains would be blithesome.
  • Have dinner once you come back to Sangla and enjoy a good night sleep in your hotel.

Day4 Let us go to Kalpa and see what is there

  • Cross Roghi and Kothi village on the way to Kalpa.
  • Please have a break to eat something on a 40 km drive to the village.
  • It will take around 3 hours to reach Kalpa.
  • It is not that you can just have a fresh water fish in a restaurant. You may fish it out of the river yourself.
  • Lit a bonfire and cook the fish.
  • Kalpa Suicide point is another adventurous tourists’ spot to visit.

Day5 Kalpa to Tabo(150 Kms,8-9 HRS)

  • It is a long journey of 150 km, which may take 09 hours to reach the destination.
  •  Before entering Spiti valley, you will visit a beautiful hamlet Nako on the way.
  • Nako Lake could be hiked to view the lake.
  • Sumdo village is where you can see merger of Spiti and Sutleg River.
  • Gue village has archaic monastery where a 500 year old body of a monk is preserved.
  • Reach Tabo village by evening and take rest in your hotel there.

Day6 Tabo sightseeing and travel to Kaza(51 Kms,2-3 HRS)

  • Oldest monastery of Himachal Pradesh is in Tabo village. It is one of the most revered sanctum.
  • On the way to Kaza, we will stop at Dhankar Village.
  • Dhankar Monastery is carefully structured between the spurs of a cliff.
  •  Walk to Dhankar Lake to have the view of the captivating surroundings.
  • Don’t forget to have a lunch break in the middle of this 3 hour drive covering 51 km.

Day7 Outing in Kaza

  • It is going to be a spectacular day. Start it with a visit to Key Monastery
  • A monk in the monastery will tell you all about the place and its legends.
  • 2nd highest village of Asia, kibber will be conquered next.
  • If 2nd Highest village of Asia is visited, then how the 1st highest village can be missed.
  • So, visit Komik village followed by Hikkim.
  • Need not to miss the highest Asia’s man-made bridge that connects Chicham village and Kibber, Chicham Bridge is surely included.
  • Langza is the next place to go.
  • Post sightseeing Kaza, it is time to rest in your hotel.

Day8 Visit Chandratal Lake and then drive to Manali(214 Kms,9-10 HRS)

  • It is all worthy to be compared to Seven Wonders of the World, Chandratal lake is a marvel of the nature.
  • Losar and Kunzum la will be on the road to Chandratal.
  • After visiting the lake have lunch at a camp site near the lake.
  • Post lunch, head to Manali.
  • Rohtang pass will come on the way, where you can sightsee for a while before heading to Manali.
  • Reach Manali and have a nice dinner in a musical café on Mall road.
  • Rest at your stay.

Day9 Back to Chandigarh(310 Kms,8-9 HRS)

  • Last but surely not the least, road drive to Chandigarh.
  • Driver will drop you at airport or railway station.
