A day is dedicated to sightsee Sangla and Chitkul. Both villages lie in the Baspa Valley. Baspa River is main water stream, originated from Sutlej River. There are many camp sites at the bank of the river to have a celestial experience of sleeping beneath the star studded sky.

Kalpa is quite prominent place to be in Kinnaur. It got more recognition after seeing its hot spot, Kalpa Suicide point in many Bollywood movies. Among many movies ‘Ye janwani hai deewani’ was one in which the Kalpa suicide point was showcased in a scene.

As we go on NH 505 and reach Hangrang Valley, we will see the conflux of Spiti River and Sutlej River. Going further, on same highway, Tabo town will be reached. Around 40 km before tabo, Gue Village has a monastery where a 500 year old Tibetan monk’s mummy is preserved.

Kaza is the capital of the Lahaul and Spiti Disrtict. Town has all amenities one may require during the trip. Be it comfortable hotels, ATMs or Gas stations. Moreover, way to Hikkim, kibber and Key monastery is accessible from the town.

Spiti Valley renders another picturesque and a fairy tale attraction, which must be visited. It is Chandratal Lake.

Itinerary

Day1 Drive from Chandigarh to Narkanda (192 km, 7 hrs)

  • Drive from Chandigarh in your booked car after arrival at its airport or railway station.
  • Halt will be given at regular interval to stretch your body after hours of sitting in the car.
  • Driver can guide you to eat at clean and hygienic places on the way.
  • You shall be passing Shimla on your way.
  • If time allows, you may stop at Shimla and visit few of the tourists’ places there.
  • Also, Fagu, Theog and Matiana village will come on the way.
  • Reach Narkanda and check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day2 Drive to Sangla from Narkanda (161 km, 6-7 hrs)

  • Check out from the hotel after having Breakfast.
  • Go to Hattu peak and Hattu temple in Narkanda
  • Drive to Sangla via Rampur and Karcham Dam.
  • Stop at Karcham dam to sneak a peek into generation of electricity by hydroelectric turbine.
  • Stop for lunch at a Dhaba and relish freshly caught pan fried trout.
  • Check in to your stay on reaching Sangla.

Day3 Sangla-Chitkul local sight seeing

  • Wake up and get ready to explore Sangla and Chitkul
  • After breakfast, driver will take you Kamru Fort.
  • Fort has a temple dedicated to Kamakshi devi. Also, view a plethora of scenic beauty of the valley facing the fort.
  • After coming back from Kamru fort, drive to Chitkul.
  • Have lunch in Chitkul and roam around the village to admire its beauty
  • In evening visit Batseri village and have tea there with a majestic view of the Kinnaur Kailash towering in background.
  • Stay at hotel in night.

Day4 Road ride to Kalpa and Kalpa sightseeing (40 km, 3 hrs)

  • Have breakfast at your stay or on the way to Kalpa.
  • Kalpa is very near to Reckong peo.
  • Have lunch at the district headquarter of Kinnaur.
  • Taste some locally grown apple and apricots.
  • Visit another antiquated beautiful hamlet, Roghi, on the way.
  • Sutlej River passes boisterously throught the valley where Kalpa is located.
  • If you are interested in angling, then sit on the river bank to catch a fish while relentlessly viewing the dreamy surroundings.
  • In accordance to time, visit Kalpa Suicide point for a beautiful view.
  • Overnight stay in Kalpa.

Day5 Kalpa to Tabo (150 km, 10 hrs)

  • Eat well in morning as today it is going to be a long ride along with many stoppages on the way to Tabo.
  • We will pass Pooh and Nako on the way.
  • Do visit the pristine Nako Lake and have lunch in the village itself.
  • Get stunned seeing the confluence of Spiti River and Sutlej River in Sumdo in Hangrang Valley.
  • On the way there will be stoppage at Gue Village. See the 500 year old mummy in a monastery in the village.
  • Reach Tabo and check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day6 Travel from Tabo to Kaza (51 km, 3 hrs)

  • First thing in the morning to do is to visit Tabo monastery after breakfast.
  • Then head to Kaza.
  • Next stop will be Dhankar village.
  • Visit the 1000 foot hight Dhankar monastery which face the confluence of Pin River and Spiti River.
  • You may walk to Dhankar Lake and have lunch near to it.
  • Reach Kaza in evening and take rest for the night.

Day7 Sightseeing Kaza

  • Exploration of Kaza starts with visiting Key monastery, which is the most famous gompa in Spiti valley.
  • Have breakfast at local food joints near the monastery.
  • After monastery, Kibber village is the next destination.
  • It won’t be strange if you find some yaks grazing the pastures in the village.
  • Click photographs with yaks.
  • Kibber and Chicham village are connected by a bridge called as Chicham Bridge, which is asia’s highest bridge.
  • After Kibber, komic village and Hikkim could be visited.
  • How can we miss Langza Village, which primarily famous for the Buddha Statue facing the valley?
  • Enjoy authentic Tibetan food in Kaza.
  • Rest in night at your stay in the town.

Day8 Enchanting Chandratal Lake (114 km, 6 hours)

  • Be ready to see a wonder of the world.
  • Check out from hotel after having Tibetan breakfast.
  • Head to Chandratal Lake.
  • To go to Chandratal Lake you need to pass Lossar Village and Kunzum Pass
  • Your eyes may stop blinking looking at the turquoise water in the crescent shape lake.
  • Bet you can’t stop clicking pictures of the stark brown mountains covered by snow on its peaks.
  • Fun is going to increase when you will stay in a tent under clear skyline glimmering with stars in night.

Day9 Drive to Manali (100 km, 7 hrs)

  • You shall be leaving early to Manali. So get up early.
  • A break will be provided at Chandratal camp, for you to have your breakfast. Then head to road.
  • You shall be passing Kunzum and Rohtang pass on your way.
  • You will notice that the scenery suddenly changes as you enter Kullu valley. It turns green from brown.
  • Break for lunch will be provided on the way.
  • You can spend some time at Rohtang Pass if reached in afternoon.
  • Head to Manali and check in to your hotel.
  • Rest in night with sweet dreams.

Day10 End of journey in Chandigarh (310 km, 10 hrs)

  • Have your breakfast along with mesmerizing views of Manali.
  • Driver will pick you post breakfast and check out.
  • Drive to Chandigarh with some breaks to freshen up and eat on the way.
  • End of the mind blowing trip.
